Here are this weeks questions:

I have a 7.5-month-old, 60lb male Malinois I've raised since 8 weeks. We live on 2.5 acres in Costa Rica. My biggest challenges are chasing our cat when she moves and bothering or mounting our smaller senior dog. A firm "NO" doesn't work once he reacts, but grabbing his collar stops him. He also pulls toward other dogs, barks at dogs behind fences, and tries chasing vehicles. Redirecting him with treats helps, but leash corrections and firm commands have limited success. He knows basic commands unless distracted. Will his behavior toward our cat and senior dog improve with age, and what's the best way to correct these reactions?

Hey Robert, when I walk Promise on a long lead after training (free time) she will often check in and lately will walk right beside me looking up at me. I have been rewarding her with cookies. I was told by someone that I shouldn’t reward her for checking in I should only reward her when I call her and she comes. Any thoughts?

I’m back with more information! Hondo my Malinois with worn canines has a home in Washington and Alaska. I am willing and able to travel to receive competent care. We have not ever found a vet that instills confidence in us. We only see them once a year for required vacs for travel. I will start blanketing the vets to find out information on a good dentist. I would be willing to take him to LA if need be.

What do you suggest is better for taking walks, a harness or collar and leash? Thank you.
