Hi Robert, question about my 11-month-old Bouvier. He still pulls on leash, and corrections on his Martingale collar don't faze him at all—even with a leash pop, vocal correction, and change of direction, I get zero reaction.

We do two walks daily, each with 1–2 short training sessions targeting focus. My goal is simple: reliable loose-leash walking.

I live in the Netherlands, where prong collars are banned. I own an unused 3.2mm prong and an unused slip chain. Wanting a patient, measured approach, am I just being impatient with the Martingale, or should I step up to the slip chain? Any tips?

I have a 4 year old working line German shepherd and I was wondering if crating him for 7-8 hours a day while I’m at work is ok or cruel.

I have a chocolate lab who gets overstimulated when she wants to play and will start to jump on me and bite. She also does this if she sees me working out at home. I try to redirect her or put her in place, but I am not always successful. The biting is really what I would like to stop since she has drawn blood a few times. This really upsets my husband who has given up on playing ball or frisbee with her. I would appreciate advice.

Robert, What are your thoughts in general about CBD for anxiety?

Not a training question. I seek a dentist to cap my Malinois canines. He will be 4 years old in January and he has 40% of his canines warm off to a flat surface. I know I should change his behavior but I defy you to spend a week with him and tell me how he does it? He has a well rounded diet I believe with raw meats, fish cheese vegetables quinoa rice oils honey multivitamins calcium fish oil oats livers. Daily dental care. He appears to be in peak condition. I appreciate your opinion and any lead you might have to a reputable canine dentist whom caps teeth. His teeth need to be preserved before they become open to the roots. Thank you.

Finally it’s cool enough to get back to walking the neighborhood with Maggie on leash. I’m watching your beginner leash lessons and love seeing Goofy and Maya being so young again. This time I’m taking it slow and doing it right. You know “old dog new tricks”. Hopefully Maggie will learn too.
